Capoeira was developed in Brazil by African slaves during colonial times. Their fight practice was disguised with music and dance. Capoeira started as a fight for freedom and cultural resistance, today it has been deemed Brazil's national heritage and its practice as sport and social activity has spread all over the world.

The Brisbane Capoeira School has been operating in West End since 1998. Our Xango Capoeira’s main objective it to Research, Divulge and preserve the Afro-Brazilian Culture. Using Capoeira as social integration tool, abolishing violence, discrimination and pre-conception, making friends and respecting all.
