OUR CLASSES

★ Junior grades

Our highly popular Junior classes suit children aged 4 – 12 years. We teach a range of martial arts techniques aimed at developing both physical and mental abilities. Kids become strong and flexible while also learning co-ordination and improving their concentration.

Our teaching methods are designed to promote both fun and self-discipline and helping children to learn a good mix of both. Junior classes are structured to suit the learning needs of children, we don’t expect children to train like adults.

We accept new students all the time. Classes can have a mix of beginners and more advanced Junior students, each doing their own particular level of techniques. We follow a graded system, children start at white belt and learn the basic techniques they need to progress to the next level at red tip. There is no pressure to succeed, goals are set at realistic levels and each student is encouraged to progress at their own pace.

Our style is non-competitive, we don’t want children to fight each other to win and you don’t have to worry about your child getting beat up. Everyone is encouraged to respect and help their fellow students and feel comfortable learning techniques in a safe environment.

The best way is to just try it out and see how they like it. There’s no obligation and no need to book in. If you’re thinking of trying it out, just come along to your nearest class and see for yourself. We won’t lock you into contracts or expect large upfront term fees, just pay as you go and only for the lessons you attend.

Kids martial arts is a great way for children to learn confidence, discipline and experience wonderful friendships. Bring your kids along to one of our kids martial arts classes to see how much fun they can have!

OUR MISSION

Taekidokai is a professionally run martial arts school. Developed by Sensei Rodney Day, founder and 7th dan black belt with over 45 years of martial art experience, with a background in Budokan Karate, Goshinryu, Hapshinryu, Taekwondo and Aikido, Sensei teaches throughout Australia and New Zealand, passing on his unique understanding of Taekido to Chief Instructors, Instructors and students. That gives the practitioner a unified method of training, unlike any other art. It encourages discipline, confidence, respect and self defence. Taekido encompasses the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of training and is suitable for men, women and children of all ages.

Taekidokai is a true Martial art, it is known for its dramatic flying and spinning kicks, holds, throws and locks. The name is derived from Japanese and means ‘Way of the body and spirit’. It has evolved in the historic tradition of eastern culture, and the merging of over 45 years of actual martial arts training has made for a fantastic school. It must be understood that studied in earnest, Taekidokai is more than a science of tactics and self defence, it is a discipline for perfecting the spirit.

The focus of training is simple and practical and invariably brings greater self-awareness. People of all ages and backgrounds learn to move their bodies with grace and power. In the process, they resolve conflict without harm to themselves or others. Benefits from this martial art increase in proportion to time spent in mindful and rigorous practice. From this practice of “moving Zen”, there comes a greater sense of well-being.
