Overview

Are your Kids curious about drama? Want to see if it’s right for them, but they're too busy during the term?

Five Day Drama workshops are a great introduction to drama – and many students come back every holiday for them! What looks like fun games are really important drama exercises that teach the fundamentals of performance, as well as building confidence, creative thinking and skills for working with others.

    9:30am - 12:30pm daily for 5 days
For students in years 3 and 4 at school in 2022

    What your child learns
Vocal techniques – the basics of voice projection and well as diction and clarity
Movement skills – introduction to stage physicality and movement
    Improvisation and creating prepared pieces
    Characterisation and character development
Confidence building through performance in a fun and safe environment

    Short Performance on Friday
This 15 - 20 min performance on the final day helps students put into practice everything they’ve learnt throughout the week. These will happen in the last hour on Friday, with times to be confirmed during the week.

These workshops often do book out as places are limited to 15 students (We believe a small class size gives the best drama experience for students!)

They're lots of fun and give creative inspiration for children over the holidays. So, get your kids to give it a go!

4.9 out of 5 (View 14 ratings)

Marian Street Theatre for Young People is one of the longest running children's theatres in Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation creating quality theatre for children aged 3-10 years. We combine great story-telling with puppetry and original music, in collaboration with young performers from Marian Street Theatre. Marian Street Theatre for Young People offers classes during term time for students aged 3 to adults and specialty workshops during school holidays. Classes cover all areas of drama: voice, movement, impro, character development and script analysis, ending the year with an open class or performance. MSTYP also runs a weekly class for Young People with an Intellectual Disability (14-25 years).
